Friday, July 28–Sunday, July 30, 10am–4pm, $345 All levels welcome All demos will be with traditional oil paint. You are also welcome to work in water-miscible oil. Painting outside in fresh air filled with bird song is such a lovely and joyful experience. We will be painting at a beautiful, private location in Freeland, WA, just 20 minutes from the Clinton ferry dock. You will be treated to sweeping sky & water views, an old orchard, rustic farm buildings and a beautiful garden. We will begin with a demo on equipment and supplies that make life easier in the field, followed by how to choose your subject, create a strong composition, mix your colors and begin your painting. Then we will reconvene to see how to build upon our foundation. We will alternate demos with individual painting time and personal consultations with Liesel. Subsequent demos will include painting wet into wet to build form, expressive brush work, using edges to add interest to your piece, and troubleshooting a painting when it isn’t working. You will learn how to create a successful landscape painting outdoors, from beginning to finish. This will be a very fun class filled with in-depth information and instruction, presented in a light-hearted way. You will be encouraged and supported in expressing your own artistic vision and style. Come join us for three lovely days of painting and learning in this beautiful setting! Exact location will be emailed to you prior to the workshop. Supply List Accessibility: Parking is available close to the demo area, and the majority of the landscape is flat and easy to negotiate.
