Expressive Plein Air Workshop
at Ebey's Landing Historic Natural Reserve

• How to use edges and brushwork to create an expressive painting that captures what you love about the landscape.
How much experience do I need?
All levels are welcome. Everyone will get personalized consultations to help grow the skills they want to focus on. Having a little experience your medium will help you get more out of the class.
What painting mediums are okay?
Students are welcome to work in acrylic, gouache, oil, pastel or watercolor. Demos will be in oil and watercolor.
Where is this?
The workshop takes place on Whidbey Island, WA at Ebey’s Prairie National Historic Reserve in Coupeville. You will be within ten minutes of great painting sites such as Ebey's lighthouse, Ebey's Landing beach, sweeping overlooks of the prairie, historic Coupeville old town waterfront and two gorgeous state parks. All painting will take place outdoors.
What is the schedule?
Friday 9/5 through Sunday 9/7, Each day starts at 9:30am with a painting demo and discussion, followed by painting time. In the afternoon we may go paint at another location within a short drive or you are welcome to go painting on your own. We will start the afternoon with a quick demo followed by painting time and time for individual consultations.

$445 includes all individual and group instruction, a map of great painting locations. Students bring their own supplies & lunches.
Your Instructor
A professional artist, Liesel has 30 years of painting and 17 years of teaching experience, including teaching at Daniel Smith Art Store, Winslow Art Center and national art retreats across the country. She loves to help people discover the joy in the creative process.
Travel
From Seatac Airport, with a private car, it is a 2.5-3 hour commute unless traveling during rush hour. You can also take a Shuttle service from Payne Field or Seatac Airport to Whidbey Island. If you need a ride from the shuttle drop off in Coupeville to the farm, email Liesel.
