A Tulip Love Story

At this time of year, everyone I know is growing eager for Spring to arrive. Last year's spring included a glorious trip to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, about an hour and a half away from me. We were blessed with a rare sunny day as we drove around the fields looking for a place to pull over and paint. I fell in love with an old barn there many years ago, and by some miracle it is still standing. I placed it in my first painting for the day.

This barn just captured my attention and I had to paint it!

Can you imagine a more glorious studio?

As I was painting this young couple came up and told me they were interested in buying my painting and that they had had their first date in the tulips fields, and now, two years later, had just gotten married. They bought the painting straight off my easel to celebrate their special memory. It is moments like this that are sheer exhilaration to know that my painting touched someone's life and will hold such meaning for them.

The painting when it was finished. "A Tulip Love Story", Oil on board, 12" x 16".
